Lancashire’s Mo-town goes Stateside as the annual Leyland Festival, which goes ahead tomorrow, takes on an American theme for this year.

It begins with the now-traditional motor parade, organised by the town’s British Commercial Vehicle Museum, which this year features fantastic examples of vintage US cars, trucks and buses.

This year, the stars of the procession, which assembles on Centurion Way between 10 and 10.30am to set off at 11am to parade through the town’s streets, will be four traditional American “Big Rig” trucks, including four Big Macs and a Trans Am.

Also taking part are a host of US vintage cars and even buses - alongside many beautiful British examples too.

Led by this year’s Festival Queen, the parade also features colourful floats put together by local firms and community groups, marching bands and dance troupes.

The parade ends at Worden Park where a whole day of fun awaits. Along with lots of stalls, crowds can enjoy vehicle displays, live music and more.

There will be American themed fun including a Wild West Show, the LASA “Space Shuttle Launch”, a Bucking Bronco, a Man Vs Food style challenge and plenty of US food and drink.

Enter your family pooch in the Paws in the Park Dog Show or join in the Cake Bake competition. There is even a chance to taste the new Leyland Cake, chosen at last year’s Festival.

And one lucky visitor will win the Festival Treasure Chest of prizes donated by local firms. Programmes are £1 including prize draw entry and tickets are £3 adults with children aged 16 years and under going free, on sale at Leyland Civic Centre, British Commercial Vehicle Museum and other outlets.
