Fresh look to resort's big Switch-On show

The Illuminations Switch-On show is about to get '˜Louder' with the addition of chart-topping DJ Fresh.

With two number one singles under his belt and collaborations with singers such as Rita Ora, Sigala and Sian Evans, DJ Fresh promises to bring an explosive show to Blackpool’s Tower Festival Headland.

He is also joined on the line-up by upcoming young singer Imani, who features on the Sigala single ‘Say You Do’, which recently peaked at number five on the UK Charts.

Sixteen-year-old Imani has been compared to singers such as Rihanna and Ariana Grande and is set to release her debut solo single ‘Don’t Need No Money’ later this month.

The duo join an already impressive line-up including The Vamps, Fatman Scoop, Club MTV and Blackpool’s own Stacey McClean, formerly of S Club 8.

Ashley Banjo, the choreographer and leader of Diversity has also helped to direct the show.

Coun Gillian Campbell, deputy leader of Blackpool Council, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to confirm DJ Fresh and Imani for our Blackpool Illuminations Friday night Switch-On celebration.

“There is a real mix to the line-up this year and we hope that everyone will enjoy the show, Blackpool looks forward to welcoming these world renowned artists.”

The Switch-On show will take place on the Tower Festival Headland on Friday, September 2.

Prior to the main event, the night will begin with a showcase of local talent with the likes of Verity Kennon, James Edgar and Axi Wild taking to the stage.

There are still special guests yet to be announced including the star with throwing the switch for The Illuminations.

Registration for tickets to the Switch-On is now closed but you can still gain entry to the event if you buy a ticket to Nickelodeon’s first UK Slimefest, priced at £18.75 and available from

Slimefest is a set of identical concerts at the Empress Ballroom, headlined by Conor Maynard and Alesha Dixon and aimed at children between the ages of four and 15-years-old.
