On October 26th an Evening with King James I offers guests the chance to learn more about the life of one of the tower’s most famous visitors.

A warm welcome drink before the open log fire sets the scene for a tour of the house with intriguing new insights into one of Britain’s least-known monarchs.

Visitors will discover fascinating details about the King’s visit to Hoghton and the fine foods of the famous banquet held in his honour at the tower.

They will dine in the magnificent Banqueting Hall, where James feasted, and share in the celebrated loin of beef, with traditional frangipane dessert, tea and coffee.

Tickets for the event cost £35, including a welcome drink, two-course meal and tea and coffee.
