'Imagination and skill' 80 local textile artists feature in six week exhibition at historic Astley Hall
The exhibition at Chorley’s Astley Hall will run from September 19 to October 25.
More than 80 artists will unite traditional craft, contemporary practice and mixed media during an exhibition at Astley Hall Coach House Gallery.
The Bolton Stitch and Textile Group will bring a vibrant celebration of textile art during Elemental Earth, an exhibition featuring work by more than 80 artists from communities across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
Running from Saturday September 19 to Sunday October 25, 2026, the exhibition invites visitors to discover an imaginative collection shaped by the textures, forces and inspiration of the natural world.

Traditional and contemporary textile practices sit side by side with mixed-media techniques, creating work that is inventive, expressive and full of visual interest.
Every member brings a distinctive perspective, informed by individual experiences, skills and ways of working. The exhibition includes nationally exhibited artists alongside members showing their work for the first time resulting in an inspiring mix that promises visitors a rich and varied experience.

We hope visitors will be inspired by the many ways textiles can capture the beauty, energy and character of the natural world.”

At the heart of Bolton Stitch and Textile Group is a commitment to sharing skills and supporting one another. Monthly meetings, regular workshops, Stitch Festivals and Stitch Days give members space to learn, experiment and develop their practice, while visiting textile tutors from across the country introduce fresh techniques and ideas. New members are always welcome. The only requirement is a love of stitch and textiles.
