Hide AdNotts pinned down the Lancashire batsman for a time with some accurate seam bowling before Alviro Petersen and Luke Procter began to assume control.
They put on 151 runs for the second wicket in 28.4 overs, a record in 50-over a side cricket at Stanley Park.
Petersen was unbeaten on 73 and Procter 63 before the rain arrived.
As the players came on to the field for the match, they were greeted by youngsters from Norcross Cricket Club, who formed a guard of honour.
Blackpool were led by Steven Croft, playing on the ground where he learned his cricket.
