“We urge the club to respond constructively”: Shrimps Trust’s communication frustration with Morecambe FC
Morecambe’s supporters’ group has updated members with its attempts to meet club officials.
The Shrimps Trust has heavily criticised Morecambe FC for a delay in responding to questions posed by supporters.
Previous seasons have seen the fans’ group raise members’ questions with club officials.
However, in an update to members issued on Friday, the Trust outlined its frustration at a current lack of communication.
It said: “The Shrimps Trust would like to update members and fans on our ongoing attempts to obtain a response to member’s questions to the club - something which the club has historically worked with us on.
“Questions were submitted to the club on 8 October 2026. Following requests by the Trust for an update, we were contacted by the COO on (Monday) 19 October to advise that the club hoped to finalise the response within the “next few days”.
“On the topic of communication, we would like to highlight recent challenges in establishing meaningful dialogue with senior figures at the club.
“For clarity, this is not a matter of isolated delay in communication.
“James Atkinson (Chair) and Alistair Stewart (Vice Chair) had a two-hour face-to-face meeting with Steve Dewsnip (MFC COO) at Halo Aerospace Stadium on 21 August 2026.
“Following that meeting, communication has been limited.
“The club’s CEO has not responded to us since 18 August 2026. On that email, we were offered a meeting at the club during the week commencing 24 August 2026.
“Despite seven subsequent attempts to arrange that meeting, we have received no further contact.
“We made an attempt to meet in person around the time of our strategy day at the start of September, but again, no meeting was forthcoming.
“On 23 September 2026 and 2 October 2026, we issued a proposed schedule of monthly meetings between the club and Trust - this was agreed as an appropriate frequency at our Strategy Day.
“The first proposed meeting was 8 October 2026. The meeting did not happen, due to lack of acknowledgement from the club.
“The club has still yet to respond by way of acknowledgement or acceptance for any future meetings, monthly or otherwise.
“On 7 October 2026, the club acknowledged challenges in communication with the Trust and confirmed it was implementing measures to rectify the situation.
“We acknowledged this response and suggested a meeting on 22 or 23 October to discuss further. We still await a response.
“It is deeply disappointing that the club has chosen not to provide the Trust with the levels of engagement that have been committed to during previous discussions.
“We urge the club to respond constructively, with an action plan to address any internal blockers to provide meaningful, transparent and timely communication with the Trust.
“Our immediate focus is the receipt of answers to member questions, which are an opportunity for the club to demonstrate transparency and provide assurances where needed.”
