Darnell Fisher returned to the side after a two-match suspension, replacing Calum Woods at right-back.

Woods moved to the bench with Josh Earl dropping out of the match day squad.

PNE boss Neil resisted the temptation to start Sean Maguire after the Irishman scored twice as a substitute in Saturday's 3-1 victory at Bolton Wanderers.

That was Maguire's first appearance after surgery to repair a serious hamstring injury.

Former North End players Bailey Wright and Josh Brownhill were included in the Bristol City side.
