Boss Mick Taylor believes his Bamber Bridge team have the platform to build a successful second half of the season in 2019.

The first five months of their NPL Premier Division campaign have certainly been an eventful period for the club.

After winning promotion last season, Brig took to life at the higher level in their stride as they enjoyed a fine start to the season.

However, the loss of previous manager Neil Reynolds in November to FC United of Manchester certainly affected the club negatively for a few weeks.

Fortunately, the new management duo of Taylor and his assistant Neil Crowe have stabilised things in recent weeks after a tough start to their tenure.

They are currently on a fine run of form, having won four and drawn one of their past five games to rise up the table.

They have also progressed through to the semi-finals of the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy and also retain an interest in the NPL League Cup.

Despite failing to win any of his first four league games, Taylor was always confident that his team would recover from the Reynolds saga and start to pick up results.

“I was always optimistic that we would do well,” said Taylor.

“That’s why I took the job after Renno left.

“I knew the quality of players that we have here and I’ve got to know them personally.

“I’d like to think I have got to know them even better and what makes them tick.

“I have loved it since I’ve been manager.

“The lads have really bought into what we’ve wanted and we’ve made the tweaks that were needed.

“The boys are a great set and we’re all in it together – that’s what makes Bamber Bridge so special.”

This weekend Brig take on lowly Mickleover Sports away, looking to rise into the top half of the table.

“We’re looking to secure our status in this division and after that, then re-set our target. We know a bit about Mickleover and it won’t be easy.”
