The 11-year-old claimed victory in the England Boxing National Schools’ Championships last month.

He defeated Louie Todd, of Darlington Elite, in the final of the 42kg cadet category - the referee stepping in to stop the contest.

His victory saw him rise to No.1 ranked in the country for his age and weight category.

The youngster - who trains at Larches and Savick Amateur Boxing Club, in Ashton-on-Ribble - lived up to his top billing by winning the Golden Gloves Box Cup competition with yet more success.

Hobson said: “The world is his oyster. He’s a very talented kid, very intelligent when it comes to boxing. He’s a really good kid.”
