Applications are now open for the Preston Sports Awards 2022. In light of the global Covid-19 pandemic the 2022 Sports Awards will be delivered in a slightly different manner.

The difficult decision to not hold the annual in-person awards presentation has been made in order to take stock what has been achieved over the last 16 years, carry out a review and then after consultation with members adequately plan for what the 2023 event will look like.

To ensure that Preston clubs, volunteers and athletes do not miss out on an opportunity to receive recognition for their dedication to sport in Preston, the forum are inviting applications in the categories highlighted (below).

Nominees must be either from a Preston Sports Club or an individual that resides in, or represents a club in Preston.

The Preston Sports Awards panel will identify a winner in each category, award a trophy and progress your nomination as the Preston winner to the Lancashire Active Community Awards 2022, which will take place later in the year.

Pete Mason, chair of Preston Sports Forum, said ‘It’s fantastic to be able to once again host the Preston Sports Awards for 2022, even if it is in a different guise for this year.

"There is such strength of sports clubs, volunteers and athletes in Preston we want to ensure they receive the well-deserved recognition for their dedication to sport in Preston.

"Anyone can nominate an individual, team, club or group, so why not nominate those who have made a real impact in sport over the last year.’
