Leyland speedster Alfie Davidson celebrates a win double
Leyland’s rising motorbike racer Alfie Davidson has begun the new season in fine style
It was the perfect start to the new British Superbikes season for young Leyland speed demon Alfie Davidson.

Competing in the opening event of the Pirelli Sportbike National Championship for the INCompetition Aprilia team at Oulton Park, the 18-year-old claimed a double victory last weekend.

After a fantastic qualifying session which gave him his first pole position, Davidson suffered a few nerves at the start of the first race as he slipped a couple of places down the field after the first couple of corner.
However, he soon recovered, regaining his spot at the front to win by 0.04 seconds.
Another bad start in the second race resulted in him dropping back to sixth, but quickly moved back into the top four.
He began to hunt down the front runners and hit the front on lap five, riding a fantastic race to fend off several overtaking attempts to claim victory by 0.1 seconds.
Davidson said: “It was a brilliant weekend from start to finish for me and the INCompetition Aprilia team.
“I managed to top every session, put it on pole and finish it off with a double race win.”
It is Davidson’s first year riding for INCompetition Aprilia and the youngster was suited with how the bike performed.
He will be aiming to build on his victory when round two takes place at Donington Park from May 15 to May 17
He added: “I’m made up with how the Aprilia felt and I feel so comfortable on it. I can’t thank the team, team sponsors, personal sponsors and my family enough for all their input, without them we wouldn’t be here.
“Everyone worked so well together and I can’t wait for Donington!”
INCompetition Aprilia owner Ian Newton was thrilled to see his new young protege win twice on debut for the team.
He said: “Alfie was superb on his debut with us, he’s been consistently fast throughout the weekend and to win both races was fantastic.
“He’s an absolute pleasure to work with and we’re over the moon with his results, two hard races.
“I’m very happy with where we are and looking forward to the rest of the season.”
