Leyland ace Lloyd Tennant occupies the crease for superb century

Leyland have given themselves some breathing space in the battle to avoid the drop in the Northern Premier League Division One.

Karl Cross’s men were looking in serious trouble only a few weeks ago, but three league wins on the spin have seen them move clear of the drop zone.

Their latest victory came at Highfield as they swept Fulwood & Broughton aside by a huge 165 runs.

It was Lloyd Tenant who was the star of the show as his century enabled the visitors to post 278-7.

He was assisted by Cross (41) and Ned Patterson (36), while Simon Kerrigan was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.

Andrew Jacques then took 5-30 as F&B were dismissed for a paltry 113.

Sam Oldham returned figures of 3-18 while Ben Rosbottom top scored with 43.

Kendal extended their lead at the top of the table after they crushed Chorley at Windsor Park. The leaders batted first and amassed an enormous 356-7.

Freddie Fallows hit a staggering 12 sixes and seven fours on his way to a 38-ball 112.

He was aided and abetted by Maximus Winskill (60). James Dunn took 3-60.

In reply, Chorley were skittled for 123 with Louis Backhouse taking 5-33.

Garstang’s hopes of keeping pace with Kendal were scuppered by the weather as their match at Netherfield was abandoned.

Cole McConchie had hit an unbeaten 47 as the hosts had reached 138-2 before the rain came.

Inconsistent Longridge became bottom side – and reigning champions – Fleetwood’s first victims of the season at Chipping Road.

Michael Rippon (88 not out) and Harry McAleer (74) enabled the visitors to compile an imposing 227-4.

Matthew Siddall then took a brilliant 5-16 as the hosts were bowled out for a disappointing 121 inside 20 overs. Skipper Zac Christie top scored with 39.

Elsewhere, Settle moved into third spot courtesy of a 41-run win over Blackpool at Stanley Park.
