Euxton captain targets a perfect five in division two promotion run-in

Euxton skipper James Bone has challenged his men to be relentless in the NPCL Division Two promotion race.

With the unbeaten Fleetwood boasting a seemingly unassailable lead at the top, attention is certainly on the race for runners-up spot and the second promotion spot.

Currently Fulwood & Broughton have the box seat as they sit in second, but they are only four points ahead of Euxton in third.

With just five games left, it could all boil down to who does best in their respective matches against Fleetwood in the final run-in.

This weekend, Euxton host fourth-placed Morecambe at Balshaw Park, while F&B entertain Penwortham at Highfield.

"Every game now in our minds is a cup final, it’s must win,” said Bone.

"I don’t think we can afford to slip up. It was unfortunate when F&B lost a couple of weeks ago, we also did the same.

"We felt that might have been our opportunity, but obviously F&B just scraped over line last weekend on Saturday. All we can do is win our matches and see what happens.

"Obviously the big one is F&B play Fleetwood at home on the penultimate game and we go to Fleetwood on the last game.

"That is going to be an interesting run-in but there’s a lot of cricket to be played before then.

"We’ve got Morecambe on Saturday and funnily enough, we beat them in the cup a few weeks ago and so we know what they’re about, they are a really good team.”
