Chorley must be wary of being victims of an FA Cup giant killing
Chorley will have to ensure they do not become the headline news in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup this weekend.
The famous old competition usually always throws up a surprise or two no matter what round it is.
The Magpies know full well what it’s like to be the team carrying out the giant slaying.
Their history is littered with cup exploits at the expense of higher placed clubs in the football pyramid.

However, they will be keen to ensure they are not on the receiving end of a cup upset when they travel to Mossley this weekend.
Two divisions and 52 places separate the clubs in the football pyramid as Mossley currently sit in 10th spot in the NPL West Division while Chorley are flying high in third position in the National League North.
Mossley have shown that they are not afraid of teams in higher positions – in the last round they defeated NPL Premier Division side Whitby Town over the course of two matches.
In the original tie at Seel park, the match finished all-square 2-2.
There were even more goals in the replay as the two sides were locked at 3-3 before Mossley prevailed 5-3 on penalties.
"It will be us who have to ensure that we keep our standards high,” said Preece.
"There are always shocks in the FA Cup and there will be shocks in the next round. We have got to make sure that we are not one of them.”
Meanwhile, both Bamber Bridge and Lancaster City have a free weekend due to their scheduled opponents having FA Cup commitments.
Brig – who defeated Prescot Cables 4-2 in midweek (pictured) – were due to face Stockton Town tomorrow, but the North East outfit are hosting Marine in the second qualifying round. Their next game is away to Workington on Tuesday.
The Dolly Blues return to action next Tuesday at Prescot Cables. Before then comes a blank weekend as scheduled visitors Leek Town now face Kidderminster Harriers in the FA Cup.
Elsewhere in the FA Cup, Southport face an assignment against Hyde United at Haig Avenue tomorrow.
In the National League, AFC Fylde will aim to snap their winless run they travel to York City.
Clitheroe welcome Hanley Town to Shawbridge for a NPL West Division fixture. Other fixtures – NWCL: Burscough v Ramsbottom United, Charnock Richard v FC St Helens, Longridge Town v South Liverpool, Euxton Villa v Thornton Cleveleys, Garstang v Ashton Town. NEC: Whitley Bay v Kendal Town.
