After the highly fancied Scott Taylor and previous qualifying day winner Gary Timlin had both been defeated at the last-32 stage, Iddon took his chance with a steady series of displays to carry off the top prize and earn a host of qualifying points for the finals day.

That takes place at Brownedge, Bamber Bridge, on Saturday, September 3, when the top 16 players face off against each other. The next qualifier takes place at Iddon’s home venue Lostock Hall on July 9 with the final qualifying day at St George’s, Chorley, on August 6.
