Bowls: Iddon claims a victory in Summer League at Frenchwood Social Club

A stunning string of performances by Josh Iddon saw him storm to victory in the second qualifying day of the 2022 Summer Bowling North West League.

The Lostock Hall Conservative Club ace saw off three top-class opponents without too many scares, before defeating Chorley-based Terry McMullan 21-12 in the final in front of a healthy crowd at Frenchwood Social Club on Saturday.

After the highly fancied Scott Taylor and previous qualifying day winner Gary Timlin had both been defeated at the last-32 stage, Iddon took his chance with a steady series of displays to carry off the top prize and earn a host of qualifying points for the finals day.

That takes place at Brownedge, Bamber Bridge, on Saturday, September 3, when the top 16 players face off against each other.The next qualifier takes place at Iddon’s home venue Lostock Hall on July 9 with the final qualifying day at St George’s, Chorley, on August 6.
