Goals from Joe Garner, Liam Hogan and Ronnie Blois gave them a 3-0 win at Bamber Bridge on Saturday, following on from the wins at Kendal Town and Clitheroe.

It set up Lakeland’s players for Tuesday’s trip to Cheadle Town - an additional fixture confirmed at the end of last week - followed by Saturday’s match at Bury.

Speaking after Saturday’s win, Lakeland said: “I was pleased with a lot of what I saw today.

“I thought it was our most complete performance of pre-season yet.

“I thought we tried to do a lot of the right things on Tuesday (at Clitheroe) but conditions, opposition and maybe a little bit of fatigue for our lads - because we’ve been working them really hard on the training ground - just meant that things didn’t quite flow as we wanted to, but we won.

“We want to get in the habit of winning and we had a clean sheet - and we want to get in the habit of having plenty of those as well.

“We just wanted to see a much more complete performance today and I thought we got that.

“We played with a good control, we looked a threat all game, we scored three good goals - should have had six but I have to give their goalkeeper a mention, the two saves he made in the first half from Joe Garner were outstanding - and obviously getting another clean sheet tops another positive day for us.”

Garner and Blois both finding the net was a positive for Lakeland, who backed both to be a nuisance for opposition defences when the new National League North season begins.

“I think they’ll both score goals for us,” he said.

“They can both play up there on their own and we’ll have the option of playing them both together.

“You put those two together, they’re going to be a handful. I’m pleased for them both.

“Joe, I thought he looked sharper today which is probably the result of him having had a week’s worth of training.

“Ronnie, equally, took his goal very well. I’m pleased for them both to score.”
