"We’ve got to hit that first target as quick as we can now": Morecambe seek a return to winning ways
Ben Tollitt is calling on Morecambe’s players to escape the National League relegation zone as soon as possible so they can start to focus on climbing the table.
The Shrimps welcome Boston United to the Mazuma Mobile Stadium on Saturday (12.30pm), having lost 1-0 at Braintree Town last weekend.

Three points there would have seen Ashvir Singh Johal’s squad move out of the bottom four as they approach the midway point of the season.
Instead, a seventh defeat from 11 away from home – and 12th league loss overall – kept them third from bottom with a four-point gap to 18th-placed Boston.
They have lost four of their last five and are aiming to atone for October’s 4-0 loss when they hosted the Shrimps.
Speaking to Morecambe’s media team after the defeat at Braintree, Tollitt said: “Looking forward to being back at home.
“It’s a game that we’re going to look at to win, to hopefully improve our position.
“Our aim is to get out of the relegation zone, we don’t want to be there.
“Once we’ve hit that, then we can look up and try to go again at the next target but we’ve got to hit that first target as quick as we can now.”
The loss at Braintree almost summed up Morecambe’s season to date over the course of 90 minutes.
A glaring defensive error saw them fall behind early on before they were unable to take any of the chances which came their way at the other end.
Tollitt added: “(The performance) Started awful but got better as it went on, especially second half.
“We were looking at trying to get out of the relegation zone. Unfortunately, that’s the way the game started.
“No-one means to make the mistakes, it’s just the way it was, but second half, I thought we were dominant and probably should have won.
“Second half, we came out a lot better, completely penned them in: I don’t really remember them having a chance.
“We’ve hit the post, the keeper’s made some great saves, we got into good areas but it doesn’t really mean anything when we don’t add to the scoreboard.
“We came back into the game well but ultimately it doesn’t really matter.”
