Chorley striker James Dean is expected to be out for five to six weeks after picking up an ankle injury against Corby Town.

Magpies boss Matt Jansen appeared to be dealt a double blow as captain Andy Teague was knocked unconscious during the 3-0 win over the National League North strugglers at Victory Park on Saturday.

But while Dean is set to be sidelined for nearly two months, Jansen revealed his skipper should be back in action for Saturday’s home clash against Gloucester City.

He said: “It is a big blow. Deano always gives 100% and he is a workhorse.

“He might not have been scoring as many of late but his work ethic has been fantastic.

“He helps create space for fellow forwards Josh Hine and Darren Stephenson to exploit.

“He might have chipped a bone in his ankle and we think he has damaged his ankle ligaments.

“I have been told it will take five to six weeks for him to recover if that is the case – maybe even longer.

“Teaguey was out cold for a few seconds and obviously he had to come off.

“My physio says he won’t be able to play or train for five days, but he is strong and he should be back in action on Saturday.”

The 3-0 victory saw Chorley climb up to eighth in the table and it was the first time the Magpies have kept a clean sheet in the league since they beat Brackley Town 1-0 at home on October 31.

Jansen’s men have now only lost one of their last five games and he says his side is growing in confidence and raring to face 14th-placed Gloucester who are just three points behind them.

He said: “If you are playing well sooner or later you are going to start getting the right results. We haven’t always what we have deserved but we did, we played well and got the clean sheet. The lads are confident. We have done our homework on Gloucester but they will be more fearful of us than we are of them.”
