Shrimps Trust responds to winding-up petition against Morecambe
Morecambe’s official supporters group has called for a speedy conclusion to the latest winding-up petition issued against the club.
The Shrimps Trust posted a statement on Wednesday following news of the petition from a firm set up by two former club directors, Graham Hodgson and Nigel Adams.

Ascot & Ryley LLP issued it in response to a reported unpaid debt of £56,000 relating to a piece of land near the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.
Morecambe, for its part, said they were ‘surprised and disappointed’ to learn of the petition when making a statement on Tuesday.
It raises yet more unwanted attention upon the club, which is trying to plan for life in National League North and with Adam Lakeland having recently been appointed as the new manager.
The Trust statement said: “The Trust urges both parties to come to a resolution on this as swiftly as possible and that the club takes steps to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in future.
“We have been greatly encouraged by the recent managerial appointment of Adam Lakeland and the following extension of the early bird season ticket deadline.
“However, we are eager that positive steps like these are not undermined, so that Adam and his team are able to prepare for the season ahead without distraction.”
The petition, filed at the end of April, was the second in a month against the club, following on from one issued by KPM Groundworks – when arrangements were then made to settle the outstanding debt.
Morecambe were also the subject of another winding-up petition issued by HMRC last August, days before Panjab Warriors completed their long-awaited buyout of the club.
