Striker Jay Hart has apologised to his family and Clitheroe Football Club after an explicit video involving a mystery blonde went viral and caused a social media storm.

The 24-year-old was caught in the act in a dug-out at Mossley AFC’s Seel Park in the aftermath of a 4-1 defeat in the Evo-Stik First Division North and was subsequently sacked by the Blues.

Hart was brought to Shawbridge by Simon Garner in October, where he made his debut in a 2-1 win over Harrogate Railway Athletic, having briefly played alongside former Southampton and Blackpool forward Brett Ormerod at Padiham.

The striker, a father of two, has since re-signed for North West Counties Premier Division outfit Colne, where he had previously spent three seasons, as Reds boss Steve Cunningham is willing to provide the platform for Hart to get his life back on track.

“It’s crazy and I can’t believe it,” he said. “It’s gone global. I’ve got mates in New Zealand who sent me a text to tell me they’d seen it all over news pages. I made a horrible mistake, but I wasn’t expecting this. I’ve just got to get on with things now and hopefully it will all soon be over.

“I’m disgusted, embarrassed and ashamed of myself for what has happened. I have let Clitheroe FC down and more importantly I’ve let my family down. I fully understand why the club dismissed me and fully appreciate their decision.

“They are an amazing club which will continue to improve every season. The club is run very well and I wish them all the best for the future. I’m going to miss the club, the lads and all the fans that have stuck by me.

“I appreciate everything they’ve done for me during my time there. I won’t forget it. My main aim now is to fix things at home and become a better person. I apologise to everyone that this has affected and hope one day people can forgive me.”

Hart lined up for Colne’s reserves midweek where he netted twice in a 2-1 win over Runcorn Linnets. He is set to line up against ninth tier runners up Runcorn Linnets at the XLCR Stadium tonight, kick-off 7-45 p.m.
