The 52nd- minute goal in Tuesday night’s 2-1 victory was Robinson’s first in the Championship.

It came at the 11th attempt, the 21-year-old having made a handful of appearances for Bristol City at this level earlier in the season.

This was the fifth game of his third loan spell with the Lilywhites, four of those appearances being as a sub.

Robinson told the Evening Post: “I was really happy for the boys, and the club that we got a massive three points in midweek.

“We had a big game last Saturday which took a lot out of us but we got ourselves going again, playing a Charlton side who made it hard for us.

“Speaking from a personal point of view, it was my first goal in this division so it was a big moment.

“It has taken a little while to get it but I’ve got there in the end.

“Now my aim is to score a few more and help the team as much as I can.

“It was a good move for the goal, starting with the keeper’s throw out.

“Adam Reach did really well, he put the ball through the defender’s legs and I just pulled behind my marker to stick out a leg and put it into the roof of the net.

“Daniel Johnson was right behind me so if I had messed it up, I would have got an earful from him!”

Robinson returned to North End in January after two spells on loan from Aston Villa last term in which he made 28 appearances in total.

His loan at Bristol City in the first half of the season proved a harsh experience, with him starting just twice.

Suffice to say, he is happy to be back in what he regards as familiar surroundings.

Said Robinson: “I love it here, the fans have been good to me and I appreciate all the support they have given me.

“The first three or four weeks were about me getting my fitness, with a lot of time spent in the gym to get back to where I was.

“I got my first start against Huddersfield a couple of weeks ago, a game in which I couldn’t get on the ball enough.

“Since then I’ve been on the bench and, against Charlton, the gaffer told me at half-time to go on and express myself.

“He told me to do what I do best – run at them, get behind their defence.

“It is four wins on the spin for us now and there is a really positive vibe about us.

“We are not getting above our station, we will continue to work hard.

“Next we play Cardiff who are strong at home.”
