The rearranged fixture in December also fell foul of the wet weather but now the home clash is in doubt again due to the predicted icy conditions.

He said: “I don’t know whether it will be in on with the frost and the weather that has been forecast.

“The pitch is cut up because the reserves and the youth team played on it.

“We would have liked to have had a game before going into it, to have a little bit more match fitness.

“It is only the first round. The game should have been played three months ago.”

If the games does get the 
go-ahead, Crossley says Rovers will be a tough test, as they have managed to get some games in over the winter.

“Blackpool are a good side.They are one of the teams who have managed to get some fixtures in whereas we have only had two games since November 28.

“They have got some good players and they will be up near the top of the table come the end of the season.

“The Richardson Cup is one of the three competitions we compete in, including the league and the Lancashire Amateur Cup – we would like to do well in it.”

Garstang’s game at Southport Hesketh was the only game to be called off in the West Lancashire League Premier Division last weekend.

And after the club’s 10th postponement of the campaign Crossley is keen to get some game time.

He said: “We were the only game off which is frustrating and now with the frost, it is going from bad to worse.

“Hopefully we will play on Saturday.”
