The 19-year-old, who has represented Northern Ireland at youth level, was at the Magpies on an initial month-long loan last November but the deal was extended until the end of the season.

Wilson also spent part of 2025 on loan at Galway United in Ireland, but was recalled after playing limited minutes. He has been an unused substitute on the PNE first-team bench on four occasions.

Chorley have started the new campaign with two wins, two draws and two losses from their opening six games and are 12th in the sixth tier.

Wilson will join up with PNE goalkeeper Li-Bau Stowell, who is also on loan with the club and is impressing.

Last season, when Chorley finished in 15th, Wilson became a regular and reliable player in Andy Preece’s starting lineups.

In total, the teenager made 28 appearances and scored two goals - one of which came on the final day.

He racked up 2,291 league minutes and was named Chorley’s Young Player of the Season after an impressive campaign.

Wilson praised Preece for allowing him to play his natural game while on loan with the Magpies last season.

"Preecey's been really good with me,” he told PNE’s media team in May.

“He trusted me, which is a really big thing for a young player.

“He allowed me to showcase what I can do on the pitch. Loans are key to try and prove to the manager you are capable of playing men's football.

“Chorley is my hometown and it means a lot. I have watched them since I was young and watched them get promoted.”
