It would added much needed reinforcements for Ryan Lowe at the top end of the pitch, with just two fit stirkers in the squad at the moment.

The Republic of Ireland international has played 15 times for his country and has spent time in the second tier before, with Millwall.

Since then he has had loans at Ipswich Town and MK Dons, last season, playing over 40 times for Liam Manning’s side.

It would be the first of four signings that Lowe is hoping to make this week, ahead of the opening day trip to Wigan Athletic, and also not the last forward.

He still wants another striker, and a wing back for either side with left back Alvaro Fernandez at Deepdale on Saturday ahead of a potential loan move from Manchester United.
