Parrott, who joined the club on loan from Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, has previously played in several positions in the forward line throughout his career.

Last season he predominantly played in behind the striker, at MK Dons, but there is rarely such a role in Ryan Lowe’s side.

The PNE boss has experimented with two no.10’s in behind the striker in pre-season but Parrott is hoping to make his name at the top of the pitch for North End.

Speaking to the club website, he said: “I've been a striker growing up, I've played on the left, as a 10, on the right and I've played striker and I don't mind where I play once I'm in the team.

"I've been a striker and hopefully I can get as many games there as possible this season.

"I want double figure goals, definitely. I had a bit of a slow start in my senior career for getting goals but last season gave me a massive boost.

"It was the first season that I got double figures in goals and I need to continue that on and keep going.

“I can't wait to get going, I'm buzzing to be here now and I can't wait to get out on the pitch and show what I can do.

"Wigan is an exciting game, I can't wait to get out there and put the shirt on, and get off to a flyer.”

Parrott landed late on this summer, in relation to the start of the season, but says that was the plan all along.

He took part in a famously gruelling pre-season with parent club Spurs and Antonio Conte before moving north to Lancashire.

He said: “That was the plan really, coming in just looking forward to the first game of the season. I'm going to have a week building up to that and I've done pre-season back at Spurs and worked really hard. I feel fit coming in.

“It was tough to be fair, tough mentally and physically. But it's all worth it, it's got me in shape and ready to go now.

"I can gain a lot from that, it's helping me get going ready for this season.”
