Match Report: Huddersfield Town 4-1 Preston North End - PNE turn on the style in...

Troy Parrott opened the scoring for PNE early on, with Ali McCann netting a double before Brad Potts finished off their scoring – Jordan Rhodes bagging a consolation for the Terriers.

PNE were simply irrepressible in the first 45 and Huddersfield could not cope with their intensity nor quality on the ball.

Lowe said it was exactly what he’d asked of his side, right from the first minute.

He said: “I thought they were fantastic. Everything we asked the lads for they did.

"The patterns of play, the way they worked it up the pitch were fantastic on a pitch that was a bit long and not so good.

"We kept going, kept playing and kept at the task at hand and that was to score goals and to win.

"We set the tone and I think you had to. When you know the team is not in good form and lost a couple of goals and games, we wanted to be on it right from the first minute.

"Even though they made a few changes, so did we. We had to quieten the crowd, get on the front foot and dominate the ball and we did that.”

Parrott’s goal was his first for PNE, since joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

He had looked a threat in previous games and was given the run out in the Carabao Cup in the hopes of him getting off the mark.

The plan worked to perfection for Lowe, as he scored within six minutes.

“It was a great finish, hence why I played him,” he said.

"I feel Emil will score goals so it was a toss of a coin who I started because I just felt that if I start Troy it gave him a good chance to get off the mark, and he's done that.

"I've got no question that he will continue that, I've no questions that any of my strikers will get goals, but I felt I'd give Troy those minutes to get on the scoresheet and he did that.

"I was really pleased. He could have had another one, he could have got a shot away or slid Ali in but overall we had five or six shots on target and rattled the post and the bar as well.

"Overall I'm pleased - four goals, having gone from none in two, and to get through to the next round is pleasing.”
