Tom Cannon opened the scoring just before the hour mark for North End and it was no less than they deserved, but they were pegged back by Reading with less than ten to go in the game thanks to Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan’s header.
Brad Potts netted a header of his own however in the second minutes of stoppage time at the end of the second half to move PNE level with the play-offs, with fellow top six chaser Millwall up next.
Here’s how we rated the players on the day...

9. Josh Onomah - 8
We've been waiting to see Josh Onomah perform to what was seen elsewhere and he did exactly that on Monday. It was a complete midfield performance, power, covered the ground, first touch immaculate, beating players and involved in a goal. Hopefully more to come. Photo: CameraSport - Alex Dodd

10. Alvaro Fernandez - 8
Alvaro Fernandez has grown so much in recent months and is a top player for North End, his energy and composure on the ball is impressive for someone on their first senior loan. Photo: CameraSport - Alex Dodd

11. Tom Cannon - 7
Six in six now for Tom Cannon as he's showing he's more than good enough for Championship level. He will be thinking what might have been after missing a few chances in the game but his head didn't drop and he opened the scoring. Photo: CameraSport - Alex Dodd

12. Troy Parrott - 7
Parrott is a real grafter and that will be appreciated by his teammates. Doesn't offer much of a goal threat but the ball doesn't seem to be landing his way. An admirable shift nonetheless. Photo: CameraSport - Alex Dodd
