The Owls sacked Garry Monk on Monday night, the 41-year-old having lasted 14 months in the Hillsborough job.
Tony Pulis, Paul Cook and Nigel Pearson - a former Wednesday defender - are among the early favourites to replace Monk.

They are currently second from bottom of the Championship, having last week had a 12-point deduction for financial irregularities reduced to six points on appeal.
Monk had seen his side take four points from his last two games in charge - a 1-0 win over Bournemouth and a goalless draw with Millwall - that on the back of four straight defeats.
He is the fourth permanent manage to hold the Wednesday post since 2015.

Hide AdThe one time Monk managed Wednesday against North End was at Hillsborough in July, PNE winning 3-1 thanks to goals from Scott Sinclair, Jayden Stockley and Brad Potts.
Announcing Monk's dismissal, Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri told swfc.co.uk: "I feel the time is right to make a change and I wish Garry and his team all the best for the future.
