Scott Sinclair loves a Preston North End away day and has the goals to prove it

Scott Sinclair’s liking for an away day has been there throughout his 12 months as a Preston North End player.

The winger’s goal which gave the Lilywhites their 1-0 win over Birmingham City at St Andrew’s was his seventh goal in an away game this season.

That’s some going when you bear in mind he has totalled eight for the campaign, Sinclair’s single goal at Deepdale being in the 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough on December 9.

After Sinclair joined North End last January from Celtic, he also enjoyed more fortune on his travels than at home.

He did open his Preston account at Deepdale with that run and excellent finish against former club Swansea on February 6.

Sinclair’s other two goals of last season came on the road.

The first of those was in the restart game at Luton in June, then he netted in the 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough the following month.

This season Sinclair is PNE’s leading scorer in the Championship by some distance.

His nearest challenger is Tom Barkhuizen with four league goals, although he got two in the Carabao Cup.

Alan Browne, Daniel Johnson, Sean Maguire and Brad Potts have three each in Championship action.

Browne’s trio have come when he’s played as a right-back or right wing-back.

He was switched to right-back at Birmingham to allow Jayson Molumby, Ben Whiteman and Ryan Ledson to team-up in midfield.

His performance saw him included in the EFL Championship team of midweek.
