Predicted Preston North End XI against Arsenal as injury blow suffered ahead of Carabao Cup tie - gallery

PNE host Arsenal in the Carabao Cup this week

Preston North End return to action on Wednesday night when they host Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

The Lilywhites will be without Robbie Brady, who has joined Will Keane, Patrick Bauer and Ched Evans on the sidelines - along with the suspended Milutin Osmajic. Republic of Ireland international, Brady, has suffered ankle ligament damage and will be absent for several weeks.

But, boss Paul Heckingbottom still has plenty of options to consider, for the round four encounter at Deepdale. North End have knocked out Sunderland, Harrogate Town and Fulham so far in the competition.

Goal scorer and penalty hero from the Cottagers victory, Ryan Ledson, could come back into the team and freshen up PNE’s midfield - but Ali McCann has been in strong form. Changes to the back line are unlikely, while Emil Riis is set to lead the line once again.

Here is our predicted North End XI to start against Mikel Arteta’s side...
