Their inclusion came as Neil made four changes to the side which lost 4-0 at Cardiff City.

Brad Potts and Scott Sinclair also returned to the side, with Daniel Johnson, Jayson Molumby, Emil Riis and the injured Liam Lindsay dropping out.

Gordon had impressed as a substitute in the last half hour at Cardiff, with him deserving of a start.

The inclusion of van den Berg would potentially release Alan Browne back into midfield after a stint at right-back.

On the bench there was a seat for youth-team striker Joe Rodwell-Grant, while Tom Bayliss also got a recall among the substitutes.
