Bayliss, 21, has been limited to eight substitute appearances in the league since his move from Coventry City last season, with his previous starts in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

He replaced Alan Browne in midfield, Browne ruled out with a calf injury picked up in the midweek win over Coventry.

That was one of three changes made to the North End side, Ryan Ledson and Brad Potts coming into the starting XI in place of Paul Gallagher and Josh Earl who moved to the bench.

In Browne's absence, Daniel Johnson was given the skipper's armband.

On the bench there were substitute slots for Adam O'Reilly and Jocob Holland-Wilkinson.
