As reported this week, Preston North End are understood to be in talks over a new goalkeeper signing.
The Lilywhites moved Jack Walton on to Dundee United last month, one year after his arrival from Luton Town.
That has left a vacancy in the shot-stopping department and PNE are thought to be in positive discussions with an experienced head.
It does not mean Dai Cornell will be leaving the Lilywhites, though, with the Welshman expected to pen a 12 month extension and provide further cover.
But, the question now is who North End will bring through the door to provide added competition for number one, Daniel Iversen.
We’ve had a look around at who could suit Preston, and come up with the following list of candidates...

5. Alex Cairns
Another experienced campaigner. Leeds have confirmed they remain in discussions with the 33-year-old, who rejoined the club two years ago. Between 2016 and 2024, Cairns made a combined 317 appearances across spells with Fleetwood and Salford. He was born in Doncaster and has remained up north for the majority of his career. | Getty Images
