The striker scored for the Evo-Stik Premier Division club in their 4-1 victory over South Shields.

Simpson grabbed Hyde’s second just before half-time, beating the goalkeeper to a through ball before scoring from a narrow angle.

The 18-year-old has made the move to the Greater Manchester club until November 17 in a bid to get some first-team football.

The 6ft 6in front man’s one senior appearance since his £50,000 move from Hartlepool in January came in the dying moments against Aston Villa at Villa Park in February.

Elsewhere on the loan front Mathew Hudson played his second game for Bury on Tuesday night, starting in goal for the Shakers’ 2-1 Checkatrade Trophy win over Leicester’s Under 21s at Gigg Lane.

His only other appearance for the League Two club came in the same competition against Rochdale last month.

Another player sent out on loan, Andy Boyle, will be playing under a new manager after Dundee sacked Neil McCann.

The 44-year-old had been in charge at Dens Park since April 2017 but leaves with the club bottom of the Scottish Premiership after seven defeats in eight games.
