Preston North End snap up ex-Man City starlet, Stoke City flop seals exit

Huddersfield Town made it seven games without a win last weekend, when they were held to a 1-1 draw with Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Preston North End' s dip in form continued last weekend, as Alex Neil's side fell to a 2-1 home loss to relegation zone strugglers Rotherham United, despite dominating possession against the visitors.

Speaking after the loss, which leaves the Lilywhites in 11th place and nine points off the all-important play-off places, Neil admitted his exasperation with his players for failing to convert of clear-cut chances.

He claimed: "Anthony Gordon had a good chance when he cut inside and opened up the goal for himself – we saw him do that in training and he’s really good at it.

“There was one when Tommy B(arkhuizen) fizzed it across the front of the goal, I think Anthony touched it and the keeper blocked.

“Ched (Evanshad a header which the keeper tipped away...we had ample chances to score, we should have got something so we have only got ourselves to blame really."

Preston return to action this week, when they travel to take on local rivals Blackburn Rovers in an eagerly-anticipated Friday night showdown at Ewood Park.

The last the two sides met, Rovers pulled off a shock 3-0 win at Deepdale, and the Lilywhites will be out for revenge against Tony Mowbray's men when they come face-to-face again at the end of the week.
