Preston North End sign Danish striker Emil Riis Jakobsen
Preston North End have signed Danish striker Emil Riis Jakobsen from Randers FC.
The 22-year-old has penned a four-year contract, with North End saying they had paid a 'significant' undisclosed fee for him.
Subject to international clearance, he will be in the squad for Sunday's trip to Brentford.
Jakobsen had a medical in Denmark on Thursday morning before being flown by private jet to Manchester Airport in the afternoon.
The 6ft 3ins striker, who as a youth team player was on Derby County's books, said: "I am really excited. I am really looking forward to playing for this club, it is a dream come true for me.
“I hope I can help the team to score some goals – that is why I am here and what I want to do. I might look a big guy, but I would say I am pacey as well and I have a good shot and I like to score goals.
“I am very confident. I have scored a lot of goals lately. Things are going well at the moment and I hope that continues.”
His arrival ends a long search for a striker by North End.
PNE boss Alex Neil said: "Emil fits our profile; he's got previous experience in England with Derby County.
"He's young, big, strong and quick and we are very hopeful for him, he's got good pedigree and he will help us.
“He is a Denmark U21 international, I think that shows the level that he is currently playing at and obviously we want to try and help to improve him and obviously add his qualities to the squad as well.
"The fact that he has previously been in England for a number of years is a big box ticked for us and I'm hoping he can hit the ground running. He knows what the Championship is about, so hopefully it's a good fit."
