Preston North End plot end of season raid for ex-QPR man, Brentford eye ex-Aston Villa star

Preston North End endured a brutal ninety minutes of football against Brentford last weekend, as the Bees powered their way to a 5-0 win at Deepdale.

The result leaves the Lilywhites lying in 16th place in the table, but they're still comfortably clear of the relegation zone - twelve points as it stands - with just five matches of the season left to play.

Speaking after the defeat, Preston's interim head coach Frankie McAvoy opened up on the reason's behind the result, and claimed: “It is clear we are better in a 3-5-2.

“When I went to a back four I didn’t think it served us well enough, we didn’t deal with the stuff thrown at us. Individually and collectively as a group, we didn’t defend anywhere near as well as we had done against Swansea last week.

“You get the plaudits when things work out for you and you get criticised when they don’t, I’m fine with that. I accept that criticism will come my way because I changed it during the game.”

Next up, Preston will look to bounce back this Saturday, when they take on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium.

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Preston North End and the rest of the Championship, as the reaction to last weekend's action continues:
