Preston North End conceded three goals in the space of 14 first half minutes, as Southampton ran out comfortable winners on Tuesday night.
Here are our player ratings from the 3-0 loss.
5. Duane Holmes - 4
Taken off on 40 minutes, after a tough time at right wing-back up against the dangerous Armstrong. Had slid Frokjaer in for an early chance, but kicked the ball straight to Armstrong for Southampton's third. Playing out of position, of course. | CameraSport - Dave Howarth
6. Jack Whatmough - 5.5
Winning the midfield battle was always going to be extremely tough. He wasn't able to do that, but the centre-back didn't disgrace himself - out of position - against top opposition. | CameraSport -
7. Noah Mawene - 5
Went into the book for a wild challenge, after just one minute. Had to tread carefully after that. Played a few passes and ran himself into the ground for an hour. A tough test. | Camera Sport
8. Robbie Brady - 6
One of few to come out with some credit, probably. Intense in his work and used the ball better than most. Operated on both wings over the course of the game. | Getty Images
