Preston North End stopped their losing run with Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Millwall on Saturday afternoon.
Here are our six talking points from the match.
5. Lucky boy!
There was a deep free-kick whipped in late in the second half and PNE saw strong appeals for a penalty waved away by referee Mr Donohue. Milutin Osmajic was adamant Preston should’ve been awarded a penalty when the ball struck the hand of Brooke Norton-Cuffy. And, on second viewing, Preston were extremely unfortunate not to be given a spot-kick with six minutes left of normal time. The defender’s arm was stuck out and the ball clearly hit his hand.
6. Selection and substitutions
Lowe left Osmajic, Alan Browne and Liam Millar on the bench after their international exploits, having worked with the rest of the players all last week and this on the game plan. Taking Duane Holmes off in the second half did not go down too well with Preston fans and Frokjaer was taken off late in the second half - fatigue the reason given by Lowe for both of those. He used all five substitutions available to him in pursuit of a winner, but it wasn’t to be. Frokjaer and Holmes were certainly both carrying a threat. The game did feel well suited for Alan Browne and Liam Millar to come on and impact. Introducing Osmajic for Keane was an understandable change too, with the number seven not having his best day on the whole.
