Robinson, according to reports in the Midlands, has been made available for transfer this summer.

North End are in the market for a couple of strikers and Robinson has been known to play there in the past for PNE, Sheffield United and West Brom.

He departed Deepdale three years ago for the Blades but a return could be on the cards should the deal be right for the Lilywhites.

Lowe said: “Callum Robinson, if he becomes available, who wouldn't look at him?

"He's a fantastic player, has had a fantastic career and PNE fans love him so why wouldn't anyone be interested in Callum Robinson.

"I'm not going to deny it and say we wouldn't because of course we would. He's a player but he's not our player and we have to respect that fact.

"If he becomes available of course we'd be interested like everyone else would be.

"Callum is one of probably 25 strikers up and down the country that other clubs would look at as well. It's no different for us, we want to be linked with good players and be targeting good players and Callum certainly is one of them.”

The sticking point in the deal could be the asking price from the Baggies, who are looking to recoup around £4m for the forward.

North End would not pay that sort of price but could potentially cover his wages if he was made available for loan.

Lowe is not prepared to break the financial structure that has been given to him in this transfer window on any player as recruitment progresses.

He said: “We're not Preston North End that goes and splashes millions of millions of pounds, we have a budget and we have to stick with it. And we will. But if it suits our criteria and our model of what we want that doesn't break that budget and comes into sync with what we're trying to do then of course.

"There are players out there earning a lot more money than Preston players, but the fact is we have to be smart with our recruitment.

"We have to get players who see what we're trying to do as well. We've had lots of players say they like the way we play and agents telling us they'd like to join if a deal can be done.”
