There are selection dilemmas for the 43-year-old as things stand wth plenty of options and plenty of players in good form.

It only gets worse on that front too, with Bambo Diaby, Alvaro Fernandez and Sean Maguire all closing in on full fitness.

There are tough calls for Lowe to make, as he has changed things tactically on occasion this season, but he has been delighted with the reactions of his charges.

He said: "The real togetherness of the squad and the camaraderie is something special. I'm proud to manage them, they've been nothing but first class.

"Even when they've been taken out of the team and their mates are playing ahead of them.

"I don't miss a trick in and around the training ground or on a matchday, I make sure my eyes are everywhere and what I do see is that real togetherness to go and do well.

"As I've said before, if we want to go and achieve anything good, it's not just 13 or 14 players, it's a squad of 22 players.”

With Watford coming to Deepale on Saturday, 3pm, in the Championship it is a case of more of the same for the PNE boss.

That’s despite a 0-0 draw with Rotherham United in midweek, though how PNE did not win is still a mystery to most with them doing everything but scoring.

He said: “We've got to mirror what we did on Tuesday night but ultimately try and find the back of the net as well.

"We'll put our game plan together for Watford and then move it along as we get closer to the game.

"What I will say is that when we give our game plan to the boys the carry it out, they've been different class from day one in pre-season right the way through until now.

"We could be in a better place if we had more points but it's not to be.

"Where we are, we're quite happy with it but then after Saturday, if we can find the points we think we deserve to get then we'll review it and hopefully we'll be on target for where we're trying to get to.”
