North End drew a blank for their fourth game of five in the league but once again they did have chances to break the deadlock.

It is not only the fourth game PNE have not scored in, but also the fourth 0-0 draw of their campaign so far. A 1-0 win over Luton Town being the only exception.

Though his side could not find a way to take maximum points from the contest, Lowe was happy with what he saw from his side.

He said: “I thought we were fantastic, you could see everything we were trying to do.

"We're creating plenty of chances, another 10 shots, four on target, the 'keeper has made some good saves.

"Can we find the back of the net and not have him make those saves? Definitely.

"It wasn't for the lack of trying, we were fantastic all over the park.

"Just towards the end we got a little bit risky because we were trying to find that goal, a bit of desperation trying to find that goal.

"We nearly left ourselves open a bit which I don't like, I know the lads are desperately trying to get not just a goal but three points for the fans.”

Skipper Alan Browne had arguably the best chance of the game from a Preston perspective, seeing his volley saved by Hornets ‘keeper Daniel Bachmann.

Getting the no.8 in better positions has been something Lowe has been working on and admits it can be frustrating to once again come away with less than three points, given the chances his side had.

“The volley, if it goes either side of him then it's a goal,” Lowe said.

"We've been working with Alan to get in better goalscoring positions and I think he's been fantastic in doing that but again, you're up against a top quality team.

"They're Premier League players that have just come down.

"People will say it's a good point, it is, it's a fantastic point, but when you're nearly getting those points and those goal sometimes it's frustrating.”
