The 20-year-old has had an impressive, individual year with Peterborough United. In 33 League One appearances, the attacking midfielder has scored 12 goals and assisted three. Morgan has scored two more goals in the EFL Trophy, with 2,540 minutes racked up.

According to BBC Sport, the Lilywhites are admirers of his along with Championship duo Swansea City and Sheffield United. This week, all three clubs were also linked with Barnsley wide man, Reyes Cleary.

Morgan, who spent time on loan with Gillingham last season, has one year left to run on his contract at Chelsea. He joined the Blues’ academy in 2014 and moved to Southampton three years later, before returning to Stamford Bridge in 2023.

Discussing the player’s future, Posh boss Luke Williams said in February: “Obviously, Jimmy won’t be with us forever because he is not our player. He’s going to be a top level player for sure. I am certainly not going to go toe-to-toe with Chelsea over Jimmy.

“It’s entirely up to them what they plan for him but hopefully, he will hold our club dearly at the end of the season and some more of his career will be with us. He’s certainly shown great commitment to us this season.

"I feel very lucky to have worked with him. His power to weight ratio is good and he has swagger and arrogance, but just the right amount of each. Jimmy is a very bright lad who has a brilliant way of understanding himself.

“We have conversations about him staying in games when we are not dominating because if he is focused on shutting opponents down, opportunities then will present themselves to him and he will be sharp enough to take them.”
