The Scot, last year, signed fresh terms at PNE until the summer of 2027. Recently, though, links to Aberdeen have surfaced, with the Scottish Premiership side said to be keen on landing the centre-back. Lindsay has been at Deepdale since 2021 and speculation around his future isn’t at the forefront of his mind.

“Yeah, I've got a year left in the summer,” he told the Lancashire Post. “I've got nothing to say at all. I don't have Twitter, so I don't know what they are saying. But, I absolutely love it here so we'll see what happens.”

Journalist Alan Nixon reported the interest from Aberdeen, earlier this month. However, he has gone on to suggest that Lindsay isn’t sure about a return to Scotland - though the 30-year-old could explore a fresh start.

Lindsay was back on the pitch for Wednesday night’s 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City. Game time hasn’t been as frequent this season, with 26 appearances made across all competitions - 17 of those starts.

Still, he remains a trusted member of Paul Heckingbottom’s squad and wore the armband in midweek. Preston were left to rue their dreadful start to the game and Lindsay said the players must take responsibility for some of the recent goals conceded.

“I think the last few games, it's easy saying that the goals aren't good enough but literally, they're not cutting us open... we're kind of giving them goals and it's not good from us,” said Lindsay.

“The manager can't do anything about that. That's completely on us. We are capable, obviously, of defending well and scoring goals and we just need to get back to that. These things can happen but they shouldn't be happening.”
