Jaden Philogene netted the winner for Liam Rosenior’s side on Saturday
Preston North End succombed to a 1-0 defeat at Hull City on Saturday afternoon, with Jaden Philogene’s second half strike seeing the Lilywhites’ winless run extend to seven games.
Here are our five talking points following the clash at the MKM Stadium.
5. Seven without a win
The Championship is up and down every season, but PNE’s campaign has been a whirlwind already - with a seven game winless run following six straight league victories. North End now need a win to steady their season, having picked up three points from a possible last 21. That is not great reading and Lowe certainly now has some work to do, along with his coaching staff. But Preston were seconds away from beating Southampton on Wednesday and the team must now get through a sticky patch together - fans included. The away support was exceptional in Hull, once again. Preston were never expected to be a top six team this season and perhaps expectations soared somewhat with the excellent start, but this is a tough league - now in full swing after 14 games. PNE and Lowe have credit in the bank given the early points but it’s now time to prove themselves again. With the way Preston defend and the few chances they tend to create, North End games are likely to be tight encounters. They have now found themselves on the wrong side of a few of those.
