Preston North End’s promotion rivals plot move for Tottenham Hotspur talent as Hull City eye Middlesbrough swoop

The latest transfer headlines involving Preston North End and their Championship rivals.

The January window is well underway and things are starting to heat up at Deepdale.

Although PNE are yet to bring in any new faces, one member of Paul Heckingbottom’s squad is closing in on an exit.

The midfielder is undergoing a medical in Germany ahead of a switch, which is expected to be in the region of £800,000.

While the wait for incomings continues at Deepdale, gossip and speculation is rife across the Championship as clubs ready their transfer plans.

Here are the latest transfer headlines involving the Lilywhites’ second-tier rivals.

Championship trip chase Spurs talent

Southampton, Millwall and Hull City are all reportedly chasing Spurs talent Tyrese Hall.

That’s according to The Sun, who have claimed the Championship trio are all interested in landing the 20-year-old on loan before the February 2 deadline.

The article suggests the Premier League giants are weighing up a recall for the midfielder from his season-long stint with Notts County to assess his progress in first-team training.

Should Thomas Frank’s men give the green light to a temporary exit in January, a host of PNE’s second-tier rivals and League One clubs are already queuing for his services.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium academy graduate has impressed for the League Two promotion-chasing Magpies, which has seen him score six goals and register two assists in 22 outings in all competitions this term.

Hull City to land Middlesbrough man

PNE’s Championship promotion rivals Hull City look set to strengthen this week, with the arrival of Middlesbrough man Seny Dieng.

The Northern Echo have revealed the Tigers are closing in on the goalkeeper after being given permission to speak to the player and representatives this week.

Sergej Jakirovic’s side are, of course, under a registration embargo after failing to pay Aston Villa for the loan signing of Louie Barry along with late payments to other clubs.

The MKM Stadium outfit are, though, allowed to recruit new arrivals if they’re granted permission by the EFL or another player departs.

Dieng has reportedly agreed terms on a departure from the Riverside Stadium, with the article suggesting the 31-year-old will sign an 18-month deal with Hull, who sit sixth in the current standings.

Patrick Bamford is expected to remain with Sheffield United for the remainder of the campaign, according to reports.

The striker, who was released by Leeds United following their promotion to the Premier League in the summer, sealed a move to Bramall Lane on a short-term deal in November.

With the 32-year-old’s terms set to come to an end next week, Championship rivals Ipswich Town were keen to acquire his services in the window.

However, Football Insider have since revealed Bamford is set to pen a new contract with the Steel City side and remain loyal to Chris Wilder.

During his two-month stay at Bramall Lane the forward has impressed, netting five goals in his first 10 league appearances.

Now it appears the one-cap England international will stay with the Blades for at least the second-half of the season as he turns down interest from North End’s promotion rivals Ipswich.
