It’s that time of year where out-of-contract lists come into focus, with the international break in play, the summer transfer window done and dusted and January approaching.
Preston North End have tied Brad Potts down to fresh terms so far this seaso, but a couple of key first team players remain in their final years. One of those is club captain Alan Browne, who has openly said he would be ‘happy’ to extend his contract at Deepdale. Ben Whiteman is another stand out name on the list and Andrew Hughes is there too - but PNE have a one-year option which can be triggered in the Welshman’s deal.
Here, we assess the contract state of play and weigh in with our verdict as things stand.

9. Josh Seary - stall
Lots to like about Seary’s game but he has a couple of important years ahead. It’s his first year as a pro and there is a spot for him down that right side, in the long run, if he wants it enough. | Preston World Copyright © 2023 CameraSport

10. Noah Mawene - stall
Again, it’s only October so there is no need to rush with the youngsters. But, Mawene is clearly making a strong impression on Lowe - given his involvement in and around the first team. If he keeps that up, a deal should come his way no problem. Photo: CameraSport - Alex Dodd
11. Mikey O’Neill - stall
Didn’t quite go to plan for O’Neill at Grimsby last season, but he is back out on loan with Southport and getting regular minutes under his belt. Needs to impress there and earn another year. | CameraSport - Dave Howarth

12. James Pradic - stall
The shot-stopper is highly thought of and has been training every day, alongside Woodman and Cornell, for a couple of years now. Getting some match action at Bamber Bridge. You would expect him to stay on and keep looking to improve. | PNEFC/Ian Robinson Photo: PNEFC/Ian Robinson
