The Lilywhites’ striking department needs bolstering with Daniel Jebbison, Lewis Dobbin, Will Keane and Milos Lukovic all gone from last season’s squad.

As reported on Friday, Michael Smith is understood to have agreed a move to Mansfield Town - which would leave PNE with Milutin Osmajic and Callum Lang as their remaining forward options.

However, North End are confident of adding to their front line next week. It’s believed a deal has been agreed for a striker - who plays outside of England - to sign on loan with an option-to-buy.

Preston have made two signings so far this summer: last season’s loan star Alfie Devine, for a club record fee (£6m) and Lee Nicholls from Huddersfield Town - who will provide goalkeeping back up to Daniel Iversen.
