Match Report: Luton Town 0-1 Preston North End - Brad Potts stunner gives North ...

A stunning goal from Brad Potts was the difference on the day, the wing back flying into the air to meet the ball on the volley about five feet in the area to blast it into the net.

North End were made to earn their points at Kenilworth Road, in the searing heat it took a lot of hard work and graft for the visitors to see the game out with their narrow advantage.

“I thought the performance was okay, I thought we could have done better in certain situations,” Lowe said.

"We scored a fantastic goal. We defended very well, we managed the game very well.

"You can't come to Luton and go toe-to-toe with them, we knew that.

"The game plan was a little bit different than it normally is because we have to respect a good Luton team that just missed out on getting in the Premier League last season.

"We knew what Nathan Jones' team give you, they're relentless, they're non-stop but we found a way today.”

Potts scored his goal after breaking forward from right wing back, meeting a wonderful cross from Robbie Brady on the other side.

It was exactly the type of goal that the PNE boss wants to see from his side and is expecting more from Potts this season, having netted two in two.

He said: "I haven't seen it back but I remember seeing him in the air with both feet and thinking 'what's he doing?' and then it hit the back of the net.

"Pottsy's got fantastic goalscoring attributes and he's had that his whole career, albeit in a different role.

"What I'm pleased with is that it's one wing back crossing to the opposite wing back and getting a goal. That's how we work, that's what we want, we want them in the box.

"If he continues scoring like that, I expect the wing backs to score between five and 10 goals anyway so he's off the mark with two.

"His best goalscoring season is 13, Mike Marsh (assistant manager) said, so he's had an in-house bet with him that he's got to get over 13. He's only got 11 more to go.”
