Lowe has spoken openly on transfers this summer and is chasing a right wing back and a striker to finish off his summer recruitment.

He has brought in six players so far, Freddie Woodman, Dai Cornell, Robbie Brady, Ben Woodburn, Troy Parrott and Alvaro Fernandez.

Lowe still has three weeks to get the right players through the door and whilst he admits there are setbacks, he’s sure the right deals will get done.

He said: “We are trying to make progress but sometimes you're waiting on parent clubs and what not. You think you're half way down the line with it and then something happens and you're back to square one.

"I'll make no secret about it, we know what we're looking for. We're looking for a striker and a wing back. Once we have news on them we'll give it.

"You've got to be patient and I won't go and sign someone for the sake of signing them - there's not a chance.

"I've got to make sure they fit the criteria, whether that is attitude and application or personalities, or the quality of the player.

“I always feel things happen for a reason, I'm sure we'll get the right ones that we need.”

With two more likely to come in, Lowe is concious of the impact they can have on the squad off the pitch.

Any potential signings have to tick all of the boxes for the North End boss and that means keeping the harmony in his ranks.

If the 43-year-old is not getting the right feeling when sorting a transfer, he will not complete it.

He said: “If I feel like anyone is going to cause the group, the coaching staff or even the club a problem, it's not going to happen.

"We've been down the line with one or two players and I've come off it because I've felt it might not be the right thing.

"That's not for any reason I'd explain but you get a gut feeling of players you're signing.

"I don't want to sign players who are going to cause a disturbance.”
